His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has issued Decree No. (40) of 2021, setting the date for the election of members of the Shura Council. His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani called on citizens to participate positively in the first elections in the history of the State of Qatar.
On the occasion of opening the registration of candidates to elect members of the Shura Council, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior wished the candidates success and a fair and civilized political process, that is worthy of this historic and national occasion. He added that the Qatari people are to continue to tolerant values and act in line with their noble morals.
His Excellency emphasized that these elections, the first in the history of the State of Qatar, are taking place under the national unity which its foundations were laid by HH the Amir and which all citizens and nationals must all preserve.
His Excellency also added that the principle in these elections is the complete conviction that Qataris are equal in rights and duties, and that this principle is achieved by observing the provisions of the Constitution, national traditions and stable customs, and through the established legal and constitutional tools and procedures.
