His Highness The Amir attends Amir Cup 2026 final and crowns winners

The 2026 Amir Cup final at Khalifa International Stadium coincides with the 50th anniversary of the stadium

His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, attended the 2026 Amir Cup final between Al Sadd and Al Gharafa at Khalifa International Stadium this evening. 

HH The Amir crowned Al Gharafa champions and presented the team with the trophy and gold medals, while Al Sadd received the silver medals following the 4-1 final. 

The final was also attended by HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Personal Representative of HH The Amir; HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al Thani, HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council, along with several sheikhs, ministers, senior officials from friendly countries, presidents of Arab and international sports federations, members of the media, and football fans. 

The 2026 Amir Cup final coincides with the 50th anniversary of Khalifa International Stadium, marking a milestone in the history of one of Qatar’s most iconic sporting venues since its inauguration in 1976. 

Over five decades, the stadium has hosted major regional and international sporting events and witnessed defining moments in the development of Qatari sport, reflecting the country’s continued investment in world-class sporting infrastructure. 

In 2017, the stadium became the first venue completed for the 2022 FIFA World Cup following a renovation that preserved its historic identity while introducing advanced cooling technologies and sustainability standards.

Today, Khalifa International Stadium is a national platform for major sporting events, embodying Qatar’s sporting legacy and global ambitions.
