His Highness the Amir participates in National Sport Day Activities
His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, participated in National Sport Day activities, held at Doha Golf Club.
HH played golf alongside players from various age groups, as well as members of the national golf team, underscoring his commitment to promote sport, encourage physical activity, and inspire the community to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
Through his official account on X, HH noted that Qatar National Sport Day is an annual occasion to reaffirm the importance of sport and extended his wishes for a joyful and active day to all.
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined National Sport Day events and visited activities hosted by the Qatar Paralympic Committee.
HE also attended the Ministry of Social Development and Family’s National Sport Day program at Al Bidda Park, alongside HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family, and joined sporting activities with senior citizens and members of centres under Qatar Social Work.
Through his official account on X, HE affirmed: “Qatar places great importance on sport for its health and social dimensions. I was pleased to join citizens and residents in sporting activities held throughout the country, and I invite everyone to take advantage of this occasion to move toward a healthy lifestyle.”
Qatar National Sport Day marked its 15th edition under the slogan “I Chose Sport,” turning public spaces nationwide into vibrant sporting venues. The annual occasion embodies Qatar’s dedication to fostering a culture of sport and encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle across society.
This year’s edition brought together government and non-government entities, delivering a diverse program of sporting and recreational activities across the country, catering to all members of society. The strong turnout of citizens and residents, particularly families and children, reflected a culture of participation and community engagement.
National Sport Day is organised in recognition of sport’s pivotal role in enhancing quality of life, as one of the key outcomes of the Third National Development Strategy and its human development goals, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
Under Amiri Decree No. (80) of 2011, Qatar celebrates National Sport Day on the Tuesday of the second week of February each year. The initiative stands as a regional and international model, reflecting Qatar’s conviction that sport is a key pillar of sustainable development and a driver of a healthy, active society.
