Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Breaks Ground on Land of Legends Project
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, officially laid the foundation stone for the Land of Legends project, a landmark entertainment destination within the Simaisma Tourism Project and among the region’s largest hospitality developments. The ceremony took place at the project site in Simaisma.
As the first key development within the Simaisma project, Land of Legends is the product of a strategic alliance between Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company and Turkey’s FTG Development. With investments totaling USD 3 billion, it showcases Qatar’s prominence as a destination for global tourism investment.
HE Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Minister of Municipality and Chairman of Qatari Diar, emphasised that laying the foundation stone for Land of Legends marks a pivotal moment in strengthening Qatar’s standing as a premier regional and global tourist destination.
He added: “The Ministry of Municipality plays a pivotal role in supporting the project through strategies aimed at improving quality of life, enhancing sustainability, supporting innovation and providing advanced infrastructure. We are committed to meticulous planning and ensuring the project’s integration into the master plan for Simaisma, guaranteeing its sustainability and supporting sustainable community development.”
Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al Ali, CEO of Qatari Diar, emphasized that this milestone represents a critical achievement in establishing Qatar as a prominent player in the global tourism landscape.
He stated: “The Simaisma Project reflects an inspiring vision and a steadfast commitment to delivering a world-class entertainment experience with a distinctly Qatari essence. It seeks to draw investments into the tourism sector, generate new job opportunities and uphold the highest standards of sustainability.”
Spanning 650,000 square meters, the project boasts impressive facilities, including the Kingdom and Music hotels with a combined capacity of 1,000 rooms, seven themed zones inspired by Ibn Battuta’s adventures, the region’s first moving theatre, an 80-metre-high adventure mountain with water attractions, luxury villas and international dining options.
Expected to draw two million visitors annually, the project will strengthen Qatar’s tourism offerings while supporting Qatar National Vision 2030’s aim to diversify the economy. Sustainability lies at the heart of the Simaisma project, employing innovative smart technologies and advanced building solutions to uphold international environmental standards.
Once completed, the Simaisma project will serve as a global attraction for families and individuals. Encompassing eight million square meters with a seven-kilometre coastline, it offers exciting investment prospects for the private sector, including tourism plots, upscale resorts, an elite golf course, luxury villas, a marina and other world-class entertainment hubs.
