Qatar establishes Tamim Bin Hamad University for Military & Technology Sciences

A unified academic framework integrating military colleges and academies

The Qatar Armed Forces announced today, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, the establishment of Tamim Bin Hamad University for Military & Technology Sciences, during the joint graduation ceremony of the military colleges. The university unifies military and technical colleges and institutions under a single academic framework.

The new university strengthens institutional integration while preserving the identity and specialisations of each entity. It reflects a strategic shift towards a modern, university-level military education model aligned with contemporary scientific and technological requirements.

The university aims to advance military education by building on existing expertise and proven outcomes, developing highly professional military personnel and contributing to enhanced national readiness and the country’s security and defence ecosystem.

HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs said: “The establishment of Tamim Bin Hamad University for Military and Technology Sciences reflects the evolving institutional demands of our time. It strengthens integration across military colleges and institutions, provides a unified academic reference, and contributes to building national military capabilities rooted in modern knowledge, high professional standards, and a comprehensive vision for security and stability.”

HE Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces, said: “Tamim Bin Hamad University for Military and Technology Sciences marks a transformative step in leadership development within the armed forces. By bringing all military disciplines under a single academic framework, it unifies scientific and training standards across the armed forces, ensures the highest levels of operational coordination, and advances our vision to graduate leaders who combine operational excellence with advanced knowledge.”

The university comprises the following colleges and academies: Ahmed Bin Mohammed Military College, Mohammed Bin Ghanem Al Ghanem Naval Academy, Al Zaeem Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Air Academy, Strategic Studies Center, Military Technology College, and Cyber Space Academy.

The establishment of Tamim Bin Hamad University for Military & Technology Sciences underscores the Qatar Armed Forces’ commitment to investing in advanced military education, strengthening institutional integration, and preparing highly qualified military cadres to serve the nation and safeguard its security and stability.
