Qatar launches Qai to power its global AI ambitions

New company supports a diversified national economy

The State of Qatar today announced the launch of Qai, a national artificial intelligence company that aims to build resilient digital ecosystems that enable innovation and accelerate sustainable development.

Qai supports Qatar’s efforts to build a knowledge-based economy and advanced digital infrastructure, driving economic diversification in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The new company is a subsidiary of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and will benefit from QIA’s global network and long-term investment approach, while working closely with research institutions, policymakers and Qatar’s wider innovation stakeholders. This enables the company to leverage Qatar’s innovation ecosystem, accelerate responsible, high-impact AI solutions and position the country as a leading hub for AI and data-driven industries.

Qai will develop, operate and invest in AI infrastructure and systems in Qatar and globally, delivering secure and trusted technologies across key sectors. It will also provide access to high-performance computing and a connected suite of tools to responsibly deploy scalable AI systems, driving innovation and business growth with confidence, clarity and control.

Qai is founded on the belief that AI should serve people and society. It will empower governments, companies and researchers to develop AI solutions that align with their needs and values, while attracting top global talent and building partnerships with international research institutions, technology companies and strategic investors to advance knowledge and strengthen the innovation ecosystem.
