Qatar Tourism unveils roadmap to develop tourism sector

In the presence of HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Tourism announced a new roadmap for the country’s tourism sector during a special event attended by ministers, ambassadors and prominent industry figures.

In his speech, HE Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar, described the tourism sector as a key pillar of the country’s economic diversification strategy.

HE Saad bin Ali Al Kharji emphasised that Qatar’s tourism strategy aims to enhance the sector’s competitiveness and encourage investment in hospitality infrastructure. He stated: “Key factors are aligning to create an environment conducive to sustainable tourism growth, positively impacting the national economy and strengthening Qatar’s position on the global tourism map.”

Eng Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, outlined the company’s role in marketing Qatar, promoting events, developing attractions and diversifying the country’s event calendar to establish Qatar as a leading global tourist destination.

Visit Qatar showcased its recently launched ‘Amaze Yourself’ campaign, which targets 10 international markets to invite families, couples and friends to experience Qatar’s enchanting atmosphere.

In addition, the event announced a revamped ‘Qatar Stopover’ campaign for short-stay visitors who wish to explore Qatar during stopovers less than 24 hours. Another promotional campaign targeting Gulf Cooperation Council countries is scheduled to launch in mid-October, highlighting the distinctive tourism offers for visitors from the region.

Visit Qatar is preparing for an action-packed winter season, headlined by Formula 1, multiple events in Sealine, the Doha Jewellry and Watches Exhibition and the Qatar International Food Festival.

Looking ahead, Qatar will host significant global events in 2025, such as Web Summit Qatar and the FIFA Arab Cup.

The State of Qatar’s tourism sector has seen remarkable growth, with a record 3.2 million visitors in the first eight months of this year, a 26 percent increase from the previous year. The Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030 identifies tourism as a key sector for driving sustainable growth and economic diversification.
