Aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030, the comprehensive strategy aims to establish Qatar as a global leader in cybersecurity and a pioneer in the safe use of emerging technologies.

Speaking on this occasion, HE Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Farahid Al Malki, President of the National Cyber Security Agency, emphasised that cybersecurity can only be achieved through the collective efforts of government, private and other relevant entities.

The Second National Cyber Security Strategy’s slogan and vision, he explained, reflect our concerted efforts to foster trust in the cyberspace. This approach aims to ensure Qatar’s sustainable technological progress and prosperity while strengthening the country’s cybersecurity ecosystem, he added.

To develop the strategy, the agency adopted an inclusive approach, actively coordinating with partners and their working groups, who were simultaneously tasked with preparing the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030. These extensive collaborations were built to ensure seamless integration and alignment among various national entities, working in tandem to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030, said HE Al Malki.

The National Cyber Security Strategy 2024-2030 is founded on core values, including shared responsibility, a risk management-based approach, a results-oriented focus, protection of individuals’ personal rights, economic prosperity, alignment and cooperation. The President of the National Cyber Security highlighted that these principles are fundamental to creating a strong national cybersecurity ecosystem and play a vital role in guiding the strategy’s effective implementation.

Describing the Second National Cyber Security Strategy as a roadmap to tackle emerging cybersecurity challenges, HE Al Malki added that it also aims to establish robust frameworks for local, regional and international cooperation.

During the ceremony, Eng Dana Yousef Al Abdulla, Director of Governance and National Cyber Assurance Affairs at the National Cyber Security Agency, provided a comprehensive overview of the strategy’s core components. She outlined its pillars, objectives, development processes, risk assessments, opportunities, and vision, illustrating how these directly contribute to the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The strategy is structured around five main pillars: boosting the safety and resilience of Qatar’s cybersecurity ecosystem; developing and enforcing legislation for a secure cyberspace; fostering a booming, data-driven and innovative economy; promoting research, development and innovation in cybersecurity; building a culture of cybersecurity by upskilling the national workforce and finally, strengthening regional and international cooperation in cybersecurity.

The National Cyber Security Strategy 2024-2030 is a comprehensive, adaptable and forward-looking framework designed to meet the evolving changes and growing cybersecurity challenges of the digital age.

The State of Qatar has achieved a tier-1 ‘role-model’ classification in the Global Cybersecurity Index for 2024, demonstrating excellence in state-level cybersecurity. This accomplishment underscores the country’s unwavering commitment to creating a secure digital environment and enhancing international cooperation in tackling emerging cyber threats.
