The formation of the Board of Directors of the Organising Committee for the 21st Asian Games Doha 2030 was announced today, chaired by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee.

The Board also includes HE Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya, Minister of Municipality; HE Abdullah bin Khalaf bin Hattab Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; and HE Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism.

Among the members are also HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Boenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee; HE Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; HE Eng Yasser bin Abdullah Al Jamal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth; HE Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation; HE Eng Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Meer, President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal); and Dr Abdulrahman Mohammed Yousef Jolo, Deputy Undersecretary for Financial Policies at the Ministry of Finance.

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Organising Committee’s Board of Directors for the 21st Asian Games Doha 2030, stated: “The formation of the Organising Committee Board for the Doha 2030 Asian Games is a fundamental step in preparing for this major continental event. It places us firmly on the operational path towards delivering a successful edition. This formation embodies the principle of collective work, which experience has shown to be essential to achieving national success, and reflects the leadership’s confidence in the ability of Qatari talent to organise major international sporting events.”

HE reaffirmed that the Asian Games Doha 2030 is an extension of the ongoing development of the sports sector in Qatar. The committee aims to deliver an edition that meets Asia’s ambitions, based on innovation and sustainability, creating a legacy that benefits future generations. He noted that Doha possesses the experience and capabilities that will enable it to deliver an exceptional edition that adds to the achievements of Asian sport.

HE added that preparations for this edition build on the legacy of the Asian Games Doha 2006, a milestone that marked a significant transformation in Qatar’s sporting journey, and whose impact remains present today. That legacy provides a strong foundation from which Doha moves towards a more advanced edition for 2030, one that reflects Qatar’s progress in recent years and keeps pace with its future aspirations.

Qatar won the bid to host the Asian Games 2030 in December 2020, after presenting a distinguished candidature file that demonstrated full readiness to host the Games for the second time, thanks to its modern sports infrastructure and facilities that meet the highest international standards. Today, several years ahead of the event, Qatar reaffirms that readiness, anchored in an exceptional legacy built over the past years.

This legacy is supported by a modern system of sports facilities, including stadiums and integrated training complexes, and an extensive transport and services infrastructure. These world-class facilities enable the nation to deliver an outstanding edition of the Asian Games without the need for constructing new venues.

Beyond its physical legacy, major sporting events previously hosted by Qatar have contributed to building a sustainable human legacy, represented in the operational and organisational expertise acquired by national talents through key events that have cemented Qatar’s position as a global sports capital.

The Qatar Olympic Committee has played a central role in developing this legacy through oversight of national sports federations, strengthening governance and institutional readiness for hosting continental and international events, and equipping national cadres with strong operational and organisational competencies through their participation in events such as the Doha 2006 Asian Games and numerous championships hosted under national federations.

This institutional, human and operational legacy forms a solid foundation for the Organising Committee of the Asian Games Doha 2030. The Qatar Olympic Committee now possesses an integrated system of expertise, experience and knowledge, enabling it to lead preparations for this continental event with high efficiency and deliver an edition that meets Asia’s aspirations and reflects the progress of Qatari sport.

Through the hosting of the Asian Games Doha 2030, Qatar seeks to strengthen its leadership in the sports sector by presenting an exceptional edition that combines organisational excellence with expanding sports participation and culture across society, while creating a lasting legacy that supports the development of future generations.
