This year’s Qatar National Sport Day saw the entire country transformed into a vast outdoor sporting venue, reflecting Qatar’s commitment to making sports an integral part of everyday life.

More than 250 entities participated, including ministries, government entities, as well as public and private organizations, organising sports activities across public parks, playgrounds, stadiums and sports facilities throughout the country.

Thousands of citizens and residents of all ages flocked to various venues, including the Doha Corniche, Old Doha Port, Al Bidda, Aspire, the Pearl, Qatar Foundation, Lusail, Msheireb Downtown Doha and Katara Cultural Village, further reinforcing the role of sports in building a healthier, more active society while supporting sustainable development goals, in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

A highlight of this year’s Sport Day was the Qatar Olympic Committee Half Marathon 2025 at Lusail Boulevard, which attracted professional and amateur runners from over 100 nationalities.

This year’s theme, ‘Never Too Late,’ emphasises that sports can be practised at any time, regardless of daily commitments, encouraging everyone to embrace physical activity as a lifestyle choice to address modern challenges and prevent sedentary-related health issues.

Since its launch in 2012, Qatar National Sport Day has garnered widespread interest across society, evolving into a national event that promotes sports awareness and encourages daily physical activity. This initiative has successfully increased public understanding of sports’ role in health promotion, aligning with Qatar’s vision of human development investment.

The annual Sport Day celebration reinforces Qatar’s commitment to establishing sports as a fundamental societal value, recognising its health and humanitarian benefits while encouraging year-round physical activity to build a healthier, more dynamic community.
