His Highness the Amir patronises inaugural Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work

The award provides an institutional framework to recognise the most impactful and sustainable social initiatives

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani patronised the inaugural Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work, held this morning at Raffles Doha.

His Highness honoured 11 winners for innovative social initiatives across the individual, family, non-profit, and private sector categories.

HH the Amir expressed pride in the launch of the inaugural Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work as the first national award of its kind, honouring the noble social legacy of Sheikha Rawda. His Highness also congratulated the winners for their initiatives and distinguished efforts in supporting the pillars of social development, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The ceremony featured an overview of the award’s objectives, focused on advancing a culture of excellence and social responsibility, alongside a documentary highlighting its future role and developmental impact in supporting Qatar National Vision 2030.

HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family, said Amiri Decision No. (16) of 2025 establishing the award reflects the state’s commitment to supporting impactful initiatives that enhance quality of life and reinforce values of cooperation and social solidarity.

She added: “The award goes beyond recognition, serving as a platform to track initiatives, celebrate achievements, and foster positive competition that delivers real, sustainable impact, in line with the Third National Development Strategy, which places people at the centre of development and prioritises family and community cohesion.

The ceremony also featured presentations of the winning initiatives and was attended by HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council, a number of Their Excellencies sheikhs and ministers, and senior officials.

The Rawda Award is Qatar’s first national platform dedicated to recognising impactful and sustainable social initiatives across five categories: individuals, families, non-profits, the private sector, and media.

The award operates under the Ministry of Social Development and Family, in strategic partnership with the Social & Sport Contribution Fund (Daam), and aims to promote a culture of social work, strengthen societal values, and encourage all sectors to lead in community engagement.
