Prime Minister inaugurates 35th Doha International Book Fair

The exhibition reflects Qatar’s growing position as a regional hub for culture and knowledge.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, inaugurated the 35th edition of the Doha International Book Fair, which runs until 23 May at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, bringing together 520 publishing houses from 37 countries across 910 booths.

The opening was attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Sheikhs and Ministers, heads of diplomatic missions, senior officials, and guests of the fair.

His Excellency the Prime Minister affirmed that the 35th edition of the Doha International Book Fair embodies a firm national commitment to human development and intellectual capacity, adding that reading is central to the intellectual, cultural, and cognitive renewal of individuals and societies, and welcoming all the publishing houses taking part in this edition.

His Excellency toured the fair’s pavilions and viewed the works on display from Qatari, Arab, and international publishing houses, alongside the latest releases, books, and manuscripts presented by the Ministry of Culture, government bodies, and participating cultural institutions.

The 35th Doha International Book Fair embodies a strong national commitment to developing people and enriching intellectual capacity. Reading plays a vital role in the intellectual, cultural, and educational renewal of individuals and societies. We welcome all publishing houses taking part in this edition.

His Excellency the Prime Minister also launched the ‘This Is Qatar’ book project, as the guest of honour initiative for the 35th Doha International Book Fair.

The 35th edition reflects the advanced standing of Qatar as a regional cultural and knowledge hub, and its sustained commitment to supporting the publishing industry and reinforcing the place of the book within the cultural landscape, in a manner that consolidates a culture of reading across all segments of society.

This year’s fair features a wide range of accompanying activities targeting different age groups, including intellectual seminars, cultural dialogues, and interactive workshops, alongside dedicated programs for children and young people, strengthening the fair’s role as a comprehensive cultural platform that brings together knowledge and creativity.

The scale of international participation in this edition reflects the fair’s deep cultural presence on the global stage and affirms its role in building bridges of civilisational dialogue and exchange of expertise between publishing houses and intellectuals from across the world, supporting cultural and intellectual exchange at the regional and international levels.
