HE Prime Minister attends graduation ceremony at Shafallah Center, presents awards to graduates
Under the slogan of the “Integration of Persons with Disabilities”, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar, attended a graduation ceremony for the Sixth Cohort at the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, which was held at the Shafallah Center on 6 September 2022.
The ceremony, which was attended by several ministers and senior officials, featured a screening of a documentary film which highlighted the graduates’ educational journey and set out their plans for the future. The ceremony also featured graduates playing a lyric operetta, which was highly commended and praised by those in attendance.
His Excellency then presented the 45 graduates with awards.
The ceremony was also attended by members of the faculty, administrative staff, parents of the graduates and guests of the ceremony. In an address to the audience, Ms Laalei Mohammed Abu Alfain, the Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, stressed that the promotion and protection of the rights of persons with disabilities (PwDs) is one of the foremost priorities of the State of Qatar, which spares no effort in facilitating PwDs’ integration through its various policies and programmes.
Ms Abu Alfain further added that supporting and empowering PwDs is an integral part of the Qatar National Vision 2030, stressing the importance that the State of Qatar places on protecting human rights and the rights of PwDs.
The Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities was established in 1999, with the aim of providing exemplary education and rehabilitation services for autistic individuals and people with mental disabilities who are under the age of 21. The Shafallah Center also offers community awareness programmes aimed at helping PwDs lead a more independent life, whilst also facilitating their integration into society.
