HE the Prime Minister Attends Shafallah Centre Graduation Ceremony

This morning, on 3 October 2023, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the graduation ceremony of the 2023 Cohort held at the Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disabilities.

In the presence of high-level officials and the families of the graduates, His Excellency the Prime Minister personally presented the graduation certificates to the 39 graduates.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, Ms Laalei Mohammed Abu Alfain, the Executive Director of the Shafallah Centre, said: “We are humbled by the support of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his awarding of the graduation certificates to the graduates of the Shafallah Centre. We are also proud of this cohort of graduates, and I call on them to continue their path of integration through creativity and giving as well as positive participation in building our nation.”

In line with the human development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to ensure the protection of the rights of all without discrimination, Abu Alfain praised the efforts of the Ministry of Social Development and Family in adopting policies and programmes that support people with disabilities (PwDs) in the State of Qatar.

Ali Ayed Al Qahtani represented his peers and delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates of the Shafallah Centre, where he welcomed and thanked the attendees for participating in the graduation ceremony. Al Qahtani said: “It is a wonderful day! My fellow graduates and I have acquired many social and functional skills that have enabled us to integrate into society and contribute effectively to serving our nation.”

The Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disabilities was founded by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser in 1999. The Centre aims to provide exemplary education and rehabilitation services for people with mental disabilities and autism under the age of 21. The Centre also aims to raise awareness of the issues and rights of PwDs in the wider society.
