HE the Prime Minister Inaugurates the First Edition of Qatar Real Estate Forum

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, inaugurated the first Qatar Real Estate Forum, organised by the Ministry of Municipality under the theme “Regulation and Legislations for an Optimal Quality of Life and a Sustainable Real Estate Industry.” The Forum will last for two days and will see the participation of several government ministers, real estate CEOs and influential figures from the State of Qatar and the region. 

In his opening address at the Forum, His Excellency Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Municipality, highlighted the establishment of the Public Authority for Regulating the Real Estate Sector under Amiri Order No. 28 of 2023. The Forum, a key element of the newly formed General Authority for Regulating the Real Estate Sector, serves as a pioneering and significant step towards further promoting and developing this vital sector and contributing to its advancement, which comes as an implementation of the State’s policies and ambitious goals as outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

His Excellency the Minister of Municipality praised the remarkable rise in Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) and the State’s annual growth rate of 70% between 2019 and 2022. His Excellency added that this growth is expected to expand by an additional 2.4% by the end of 2023, making the State of Qatar first among the top countries attracting global FDI for 2023.

His Excellency the Minister of Municipality stated that the first edition of the Qatar Real Estate Forum seeks to highlight the tireless efforts and tangible steps the State of Qatar has taken to support the real estate sector and its sustainability, with the goal of becoming an exceptional investment destination. His Excellency further stressed that the real estate sector today is one of the fastest growing sectors in the State of Qatar, ranking second after the energy sector. The real estate sector attracted investments exceeding QAR82 billion during 2022. In the same year, 135 real estate projects were launched.

The first Qatar Real Estate Forum will host 35 speakers and 1,500 leaders, decision-makers and experts in the real estate sector at the local and international levels. The Forum further seeks to highlight regional and international best practices in real estate, in addition to promoting the creation of a real estate friendly environment and developing the mechanisms necessary to realise the aspirations of the State of Qatar in supporting and reviving this vital sector.
