Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hosts Government Excellence Award

Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau organised the first edition of the Qatar Government Excellence Award.

Established under Amiri Order No. (63) of 2023, issued by HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, the awards aim to elevate government sector performance and encourage its entities and their employees to adopt the highest standards of quality, efficiency and excellence.

During the ceremony, the Ministry of Interior received the Distinction Award in the ministries category, receiving top evaluation scores. The award was received by HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Interior.

Meanwhile, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) was presented the Distinction Award for entities, with HE Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, Minister of Municipality, accepting the award.

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, received the Excellence Award for ministries, following exceptional results within their group. Aspire Zone Foundation swept up the Excellence Award for entities, which was collected by its President and CEO, Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi.

Culminating its successful leadership practices toward adopting effective frameworks for complaint and feedback management and service excellence delivery, the Ministry of Municipality claimed the Comprehensive Experience Leadership Award title.

The award was received by HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, formerly the Minister of Municipality, and HE Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya, Minister of Municipality.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports and Youth was recognised for its dedication to nurturing innovation and emerging technologies, winning the Institutional Transformation Leadership Award. The award was handed to HE Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali, formerly the Minister of Sports and Youth, and HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth.

In appreciation for fostering an engaging work culture that motivates employees, the Primary Health Care Corporation was presented with the Human Capital Development Award, which was received by the Corporation’s Managing Director, Dr Maryam Abdulmalik.

With seven total categories, the Qatar Government Excellence Award features four main awards and three specialised sub-awards that comprise the Institutional Transformation Leadership Award, the Comprehensive Experience Leadership Award and the Human Capital Development Award.

The Award comes in line with the seventh strategic national outcome of the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, underscoring the State of Qatar’s endeavour to become a world-class provider of government services to citizens and residents through distinguished and forward-looking government institutions.
