2022 Doha Forum: Transforming for a New Era

Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir of Qatar, Qatar’s annual Doha Forum took place on 26 and 27 March 2022 under the theme “Transforming for a New Era”, in light of the global challenges that have inspired revolutionary change.

This year’s Forum brought together thought-leaders, policy makers and journalists to tackle shared challenges and discuss solutions and opportunities. This year’s edition focused on four key areas including Geopolitical Alliances and International Relations, Financial System and Economic Development, Defence, Cyber and Food Security and Climate Change and Sustainability.

The opening session included remarks from His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

His Highness was followed by leaders from The State of Qatar, including His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Jassim Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of Qatar Energy; His Excellency Faleh Bin Nasser Bin Ahmed Bin Ali Al Thani, Minister of Environment and Climate Change; His Excellency Mohammed Bin Ali Al Mannai; Minister of Communications and Information, His Excellency Dr. Khalid Bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs amongst others.

International speakers included President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy; His Excellency John Kerry, United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate and Former Secretary of State; His Excellency Filippo Grandi, High Commissioner, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees; Bill Gates, Co-Founder of Microsoft and Co-Chairperson of The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; Her Excellency Mary Robinson; Chair, The Elders, Former President of Ireland and Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights; Her Excellency Catherine Russell, Executive Director of UNICEF; and Dr. Robin Niblett, Director of Chatham House; along with other recognized leaders and decision makers.

This year, the Doha Forum 2022 featured the Forum’s own “Global Reboot” podcast produced in partnership with Foreign Policy. The podcast engages global leaders to explore the solutions to an ever-changing world and features major think tank partners and leading media. The Forum also integrated high-level plenary and breakout sessions, closed-door roundtable discussions, interactive topical exhibitions and ViewPoint Series interviews.

For more than two decades, the Forum has served as a global platform for dialogue, bringing together policy leaders to discuss the world’s most critical challenges and working together to find solutions for a better future.
