Lusail International Circuit Hosts the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix

8 October 2023

The Qatar Airways Formula 1 Qatar 2023 Grand Prix will conclude this evening, on Sunday, at the Lusail International Circuit (LIC), following three days of racing from 6 – 8 October. The event serves as a testament to Qatar’s status as a renowned hub for sports and a preferred destination for major sporting competitions.

The first day of the race featured the trial and qualifying rounds, which are meant to help the drivers become acquainted with the circuit and its racetrack curves, assess their tires, test the newly developed circuit technology, and ensure their cars are well-prepared for the race.

This evening, the attention will shift to the main race, followed by the distribution of the Formula 1 prize, and concluding Qatar’s Formula 1 race hosting at the LIC.

The LIC recently underwent a comprehensive redevelopment process, leaving a strong impression on participants and attendees with its new, modern, and state-of-the-art facilities developed to the highest standards. These upgrades offer an unforgettable experience for teams, drivers, and fans alike.

This marks the second time that the State of Qatar has hosted Formula 1 races, following its successful organisation of the FIFA World Cup edition less than a year ago.

Simultaneously, the Formula 1 coincides with the Geneva International Motor Show Qatar 2023, making its debut in Doha, rather than its traditional setting in Geneva. Additionally, the Expo 2023 Doha, showcasing Qatar’s world-class infrastructure for global mega-events, continues to be held in Doha.
