Much-anticipated 2nd edition of Qatar Economic Forum kicks off on 20th June 2022
The second edition of the Qatar Economic Forum 2022, held from 20-22 June, was inaugurated under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar in cooperation with Bloomberg.
In his speech at the opening session of the Forum, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani highlighted the positive role of the Qatar Economic Forum in driving forward dialogue on key strategic issues concerning the global economy.
His Highness noted that expectations regarding Qatar’s GDP indicate a growth rate of about 4.9 percent in 2022, due to the rise in energy prices and the positive impact of the policies adopted by the State.
His Highness praised the role played by the State of Qatar as an active partner in the international community in confronting climate change in its various economic, environmental, and social aspects.
The high-level three-day event brought together government and industry leaders from across Qatar and the rest of the world to discuss some of the most serious challenges impacting the global recovery as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an increasingly connected global economy, the event highlights key opportunities to promote cooperation, increase investment and deliver economic growth across Europe, Asia, Africa and beyond.
This year’s edition of the annual Qatar Economic Forum places emphasis on the critical role that the digital economy will play in driving forward ecologically responsible and sustainable economic growth, as well as in helping to bridge the inequality gap and forge a path towards prosperity.
The Forum draws on Qatar’s position as a diplomatic hub and leader in energy sustainability. It also aims to showcase the State’s world-leading infrastructure and public transport network, which will be fundamental to delivering the 2022 FIFA World Cup in November.
